What is the Maximum size of a roller blind?
The weight of the fabric cover is the main factor that limits the width and drop of a roller blind. If the fabric cover is too heavy for the roller tube then it will deflect in the centre and cause a large ‘v’ shape in the fabric cover which at best does not look nice and at worst will crease/damage the fabric cover.
The way to resolve this issue is to ensure you use the correct size aluminium roller tube for the width of blind you require. At Buroshade we offer 32mm,45mm, 61mm,78mm diameter roller tubes. The width limits on these are listed below. These limits would apply generally to most roller blind tubes of these sizes, not just those sourced from Buroshade.
32mm tube used in the R100 system can be used for smaller blinds maximum width of approximately 2000mm and maximum area of 5.5m2
45mm tube used in the R300 system can be used for medium sized roller blinds upto maximum width of 3000mm and maximum area of 10m2
61mm tube used in R500 and R600 can be used for large roller blinds with heavy fabrics up to a maximum width of 4000mm and maximum area of 16m2
78mm roller tube used in R700 can be used for heavy duty roller blinds with a maximum width of 4500m and maximum area of 22.5m2
Another factor that needs to be taken into consideration is that the larger the blind is, the heavier the operation gets. To solve this issue a spring assist or geared mechanism can be used. You can find our knowledge post about this here.
